Palazzo Martellini is located on Via Maggio, one of the most elegant and history-rich streets in Florence’s Oltrarno. It was built in the 14th century at the behest of the noble Velluti family, one of the most influential in the area, and later purchased in 1619 by the Martellini family, who gave it a more refined and elegant touch, enriching it with typical elements of the Florentine Renaissance.
The facade, even today, preserves the iconic kneeling windows, an architectural detail as curious as it is rare, attributed to the genius of Michelangelo. But the real surprises are inside: a 15th-century courtyard that exudes history, a monumental staircase leading to the suites, and original decorative details that tell centuries of Florentine life.
In the 19th century, the Rosselli del Turco – another illustrious family – renovated the building to transform it into elegant apartments, without ever distorting its historic soul.
